Frequently Asked Questions

Is HPC a good steward of its resources now?

Yes. We are always rethinking efficient ways to utilize the space that we have currently. For example, we have added a video campus to accommodate our growth and to provide another unique way to reach people. A carefully-planned budget is also developed for general operating expenses, missions giving, and the expenses are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Why are we planning to build a new church building?

Growth has been astounding, with weekend worship attendance continuing to grow every year. In our present space we're full, but are working to creatively meet space demands by maximizing our facility and programming until the building is ready.

What would we accomplish with a larger facility?

We want to continue to reach people for Christ without fighting the limitations of space. The potential for weekend worship attendance could reach upwards of 15,000 people from all over the Baton Rouge capitol region.

What would the new facility be like?

We are planning for a 3,200 seat Worship Center, a large lobby for the interaction of other HPC'ers, a coffee shop for fellowship, and a prayer garden area outside. We will also have thousands of square feet of nursery space that will be safe, high tech and inviting to both children and parents.

How much money will need to be raised to pay for the facility?

Due to the challenges presented to construction projects after Hurricane Katrina, the overall cost has not been determined. We feel confident that we will receive a total figure shortly and know God will provide the financial resources needed.

When would we move?

We will move about 22-24 months after construction begins. That puts our first service in the new building Spring of 2009.

Will the new debt load put a strain on funding for existing personnel and program goals?

We believe general operating needs will still be met alongside the campaign needs. Of course, God has the power to take us above and beyond. By God's grace and with his help, we will continue to do outreaches and support missions as we do now.

What will we do in the interim period?

As we grow we may add services, open new campuses, and follow whatever creative avenues we can to continue reaching our community.

Why don't we plant a church rather than build a new one?

We don't see this questions as an "either/or" but as a "both/and". We will continue to help plant churches all over the world as we build our new facility.
